Ballet Girl

Description

Working on a new theme/style I was tinkering with this ballet girl that is to become a background detail in another image. I quite liked how the test render worked out, so I started playing with it in Photoshop. Now I have a collection of a dozen or so finishes and can't really decide which I like best, but here is one. If you're interested I might submit a few of the others :-)

This piece is definitely appealing and has impact.

It accentuates and praises the beauty of the female form, and perfectly captures the dancer in motion. The model’s pose, as well as hair and fabric movement are flawless, to say the least.

The chosen cooler colors add a sense of tranquility and silence, as if time and the music she is dancing to have stopped for a brief moment, giving us a chance to admire the elegance and grace of the performer and the performance. I can almost hear the sound of her bare feet against the stage, once she completes this movement and goes on to the next.

An element of intrigue and female sexuality is subtle, introduced in just the right amount, with no influence on the overall impression and not distracting from what I believe the meaning of this piece is.

A few minor comments, which follow, refer to the specific image here, i.e. do not take into account that the dancer will be in the background of a different piece, and are merely suggestions for consideration and comparison:
- I think part of impact here is simplicity. The bigger frame could be taking away from that and distracting the viewer from the dancer.
- She may need a little more space where to move, i.e. more space above her and in front of her.
- Maybe adding back just a bit of warmer tone to the dancer’s skin (but not too much so as not to influence the overall impression) would draw the viewers' attention to the character even more than now.
